My body transformation - Part 3 - The comeback
For the next two years, I researched and implemented methods that would get me back to being lean.
I implemented a high protein, low fat diet. Mostly with hot and fashionable meals from Instagram. Most importantly, I figured out what made the body ACTUALLY lose fat.
Throughout this process of self experimentation, I also found some sports that I really enjoyed doing. I picked up rock climbing (which is much harder with extra fat) and, to compliment that, calisthenics. The combination of improved diet, activity in sport, and resistance training changed my body, slowly but surely.
I started to see some bicep peaks!!
This was a massive motivator, as shallow as it was, lol.
Looking in the mirror and feeling self-confidence was a welcome change of pace.
I kept this up, but never really gained much muscle. I keep my calories low and protein relatively high. After a while I got back down to 155lbs, but this time in a much better shape.
At this point, I was slightly "toned" and was getting pretty good at rock climbing. This was great. No six-pack, but definitely "healthy".
As my journey continued, I kept self-experimentation in the forefront of my regimen. I tried all sorts of training and dieting. Began weightlifting and using the free gym at college, picked up running, and even got some yogi friends from rock climbing.
Shit, I even went high fat/high protein for a while. (Eggs + meat + butter is truly delicious)
Fast-forward to now, I just concluded my first ever 'bulk'. I raised my calories up to about 3000, and my daily protein intake was AT LEAST 160 grams. I did this in combination with heavy weight training with the goal of getting bigger and stronger.
This is where I saw the largest change in my body, by far.
Stay tuned for part 4, details of the bulk and what the future holds :D
