How I scored 2 clients in 2 days and delivered them results in even less time
Why networking is overpowered.
I scored 2 authority-building clients in 2 days and delivered results in even less time.
Here is how I did it:
Not only did I score two clients, recently I got my Twitter account out of toddler hell (sub 100 followers).
But first... let's take a step back.
I started my journey on Twitter with the goal of making a monetizable personal brand. One of the main requirements of this would be to make a living off this and kick a 9-5 for good.
There were a few things I needed for this:
I needed an audience on Twitter
I needed a product or service to sell
I needed skills to sell the product or service
But, there were some issues:
I didn't know how to grow a twitter page
I didn't know how to monetize an audience
I didn't know how to make sales
On top of those, I had NO CLUE what I was going to sell.
Once I realized that I didn't have the skills required to fulfill my goal of making a living from a personal brand.... I decided to double down.
You are probably thinking I bought a course and learned from the twitter guru's.
I said 'fuck that' and my ignorant, naive-ass started a twitter page and slapped @thebrookslagle on it
Enter > Dan Koe.
I watched his YouTube videos, consumed his twitter content, replayed those sexy animated Instagram reels... and got sold on his community. During one of his YouTube videos, he plugged a special subscriber discount on the first month and couldn't pass it up.
"5 bucks for the first month? What could go wrong?"
So, I (kinda) lied. I bought into Dan Koe's community Modern Mastery and dove head-first into browsing the Circle community.
I introduced myself then and haven't made a post since.
From there, I began starting the courses that come with the community and began to learn how to market my skills and develop myself.
I got a notification on my phone that someone named Josh Lawrence posted in the Introduction channel.
"Hi guys! I'm Josh, a 26 y/o Kiwi"
What the fuck is a "Kiwi"? Is this guy for real? People identifying as fruits now, fuck....
After a little bit of research, I realized this guy was from New Zealand, indeed not a fruit. And after a little more reading on his introduction post that he was a digital nomad living in Puerto Escondido.
I reached out and asked if I could pick his brain a bit.
I chatted with him a bit on Circle, then eventually dropped him a follow-on Twitter, where he was just starting out as well.

Fast-forward a week, I scored a call by putting a CTA plug at the end of a fire thread. Here was the CTA:
For a short period of time, I am looking for some clients.
Looking for testimonial's in return for the work.

*Side note: talk about a weak and uninterested sounding tweet...*
The next day, I was hopping on a zoom call with a prospective client for the first time, a lad from India.
My stomach was in knots.
I had no clue what I was doing.
All that was going through my head:
"What the fuck is going on. How did this happen? What I am going to do? Am I a fraud?"
I got through the call, and we settled on a personal brand website. I immediately got to work.
Within the first couple weeks of starting on Twitter, I managed to produce some solid client work and I got a testimonial in return. I provided value in the form of a website and received compensation in the form of social proof.
This was huge. It made me believe that this was possible. That I was going to be able to achieve my goal.
At the same time as I was beginning my personal brand journey, I was finishing up my fourth and final year at University. I had four classes to keep grades in, and I was (and still am) working 20+ hours a week. The cherry on top was moving out of the states for long-term traveling, which involved all the beautiful (and terrible) things about moving. Needless to say, twitter volume waned.
I finished college and in the meantime I jumped on a few calls with creators, Josh included. Following college, I jumped on my one way flight to Mexico and began that journey as well.
Twitter was still on the back burner as I was settling into traveling, stumbling my way through Spanish conversations, and working.
I was fortunate enough to schedule a fuck-ton of tweets before everything happened. I was still posting "regularly", but with zero outbound engagement. Growth was slow at best, regression at worst. I began losing followers and losing steam.

I began going hard every day with engaging. Earning each follower with blood, sweat, and 280 characters.
Followers started to roll in, and I had people reach out to me over DM's about my replies with messages like these:
Momentum was building again, and I rode this momentum until I reached my milestone of 100 followers.
And I had secured my second client, first twitter friend Josh the Kiwi. He needed a landing page and a low friction way to display his offerings attractively.
At this point, I had been on multiple calls with him, deepening our relationship and making friends. We chatted about travel, solopreneurship, Dan Koe (psychological invader), and everything in between.
This is what I like to call *warming the lead*-- I mean, making friends....
During my process of college, traveling, and acclimation, Josh was going nuclear. He has drive like King Kong with a stiffy and writes like Shakespeare; he can't be stopped. His account just hit 1k followers. The amount of value he was providing was nuts, and he is getting rewarded for it.
Throughout this process, he was making friends with other to-be GOATs in the twitter space: Glennwrites and his brother Harry, LucaWhoWrites, and too many more to mention. One in particular was Kai @edge_of_obsess, a Finnish MMA fighter turned Olympic weightlifter and writer.
Josh was kind enough to introduce me and told him about what I do.
He wanted the same as Josh, a landing page to display his offerings.
At this point, it was one whole day after finalizing what Josh wanted in his landing page. I worked late into the night working on Josh's website and finished it up in the morning. We hopped on a call and I gave him the URL for it. Another happy customer 🤝
And then I realized now I am getting another client?! We chatted with Kai and then after the call, I instantly got to work building Kai's landing page.
I delivered the website the next day. He was thrilled.
Josh got his website 36 hours before and already got 2 more downloads on his digital product and a newsletter subscription, and Kai's landing page is now on his twitter, ready for whoever clicks on it.
## This is the power of networking.
You have the ability to send DM's on Twitter. Use it. You never know what friendships you might make and what they might lead to.
I wouldn't be able to be here without the friends I have made on Twitter.
It only took one DM to see if I could learn more about Josh.
And it turned into 2 clients and fantastic social proof.
Networking becomes incredibly powerful as you leverage it every day.
Here is my regimen:
- 20+ HIGH VALUE and HIGH QUALITY replies
- 2+ insightful and honest DM's to new people.
This is my daily minimum. And I guarantee you if you stick to this for a month, you will not only grow your follower count, but also gain meaningful friendships that will last far longer than you can imagine.
Thank you for reading.
